Geoenvironmental Engineer



Geoenvironmental engineer position available within a expanding northwest based Geoenvironmental Consultancy. The company in question are a firm of engineers, geologists and environmental scientists who are part of a larger engineering group of civil and structural engineers. This firm is driven to provide effective holistic solutions for a range of different sites in terms of geotechnical, environmental and waste management issues for both commercial and private clients. This company specialises in identifying, quantifying and reducing abnormal costs to developments at an early stage.

The successful candidate should have between 1 and 2 years experience (however graduate engineers will be considered from appropriate degree background). The successful candidate would preferably have a proven track record in managing contaminated land, geotechnical and civil engineering site investigations. Remediation and verification work are also core to this position. The candidate must have a high level of report writing skills and must be able to tailor reports to a range of different scopes. A Masters degree is definitely beneficial either within geological or environmental science disciplines. The position requires a willingness to work nationwide, away from home for site work, potentially for extended periods of time.

The responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Setting up and managing site investigations, remediation and verification works,
  • Accurate and precise recording of the data obtained from site
  • Management of site based sub-contractors,
  • Generic and site specific risk assessments,
  • Ensuring that health and safety aspects of site investigations are of paramount concern,

The ideal candidate should have experience with the use of borehole software such as HoleBase/AGS and have excellent MS Word and Excel skills. The candidate should also be prepared to gain an intimate knowledge of all current guidance, as this will be essential.
