University of TokyoOcean Research InstituteAssociate Professor, Ocean Floor Geoscience DepartmentThe Ocean Research Institute, The University of Tokyo, invites applications for the position of Associate Professor, Ocean Floor Geoscience Department. http://www.ori.u-tokyo.ac.jp/en/dept/flo_geo.htmlThe seafloor encompasses sediment, and sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rock, all of which help to reveal earth history and dynamic earth processes. The sediment and rock of the oceanic crust and mantle are central for studying the production and destruction of seafloor, changes in Earth's environment, and the evolution and extinction of marine life. These issues have been studied by the Ocean Floor Geoscience department in order to testify to a dynamic planet. The department has promoted ocean floor-related international programs such as the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). We invite applications from candidates who have the geological and/or geochemical advanced skill and strong enthusiasm to explore new areas in basic research fields such as petrology in the oceanic crust and upper mantle, isotope geology on solid Earth and paleoceanography. Applicants should also have a strong interest in graduate and postgraduate education. Required Documents:
