Assistant Professor in Petrology
The Department of Earth Sciences, University of Toronto, is seeking an outstanding individual for a tenure-stream appointment on St. George campus at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment is in the fields of metamorphic and igneous petrology and high-temperature geochemistry applied to Earth materials, and will commence July 1, 2017.
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences by the time of the appointment, or shortly thereafter, and possess excellence in research, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in high-ranking and field-relevant academic journals, presentations at significant conferences, and strong endorsements by referees of high international standing. Evidence of excellence in teaching is demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, teaching statement and letters of reference submitted with the application.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We seek candidates in any dynamic and evolving sub discipline of the fields noted above and who employ state-of-the-art methodologies. The successful candidate's research program will further develop the Department's strengths in understanding Earth materials through novel empirical, experimental and/or theoretical approaches: he or she will be expected to establish an internationally-recognized, externally-funded research program. The Department houses a collection of modern analytical facilities which the successful candidate would have an opportunity to take advantage of and further develop.
