Three faculty positions in Geology



The Science Faculty invites applications for 3 full-time positions in the following areas:

  • Structural geology, with preferable expertise in the study of subduction zones and seismic hazard.
  • Igneous and/or metamorphic petrology, with preferable expertise in mineralogical studies of ore deposits.
  • Geophysics applied to the Earth Sciences.

Qualified candidates must have a PhD in the Earth Sciences. They must demonstrate an active scientific record through ISI publications and participation in competitive research programs. Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is desirable.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Organizing and teaching courses for the undergraduate School of Geology.
  • Carrying out novel scientific research through own and collaborative national and international programs, leading to top-ranked publications.
  • Developing outreach activities with professionals and the general public.
  • Contributing to the academic-administrative governance of the University.

The successful candidate will be appointed on the appropriate level of the University salary scale depending on experience. The employment starting date is 1st of January 2014.
