Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 in the UCD School of Earth Sciences. This is a temporary post.
The project will provide a better understanding of the controls on upslope sandstone pinchouts in deepwater turbidite systems in order to establish more reliable risking of pinchout traps in petroleum exploration. The work will include an assessment of the current understanding of sand connections and pinchout potential between shallow marine and deepwater depositional systems. Opportunities exist for a range of other work components during this project, including analysis of modern sea-floor systems, ancient outcropping systems, subsurface datasets and seismic modelling, as determined by the expertise and interests of the researcher. The successful candidate will join a large applied geoscience research group (Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences - iCRAG) in the UCD School of Earth Sciences at University College Dublin.
Salary: €36,489 - €38,750 per annum
