University of California, RiversideDepartment of Earth SciencesPostdoctoral Research Associate in Molecular Organic GeochemistryWe are seeking a PhD graduate for an appointment as Postdoctoral Research Associate in molecular organic geochemistry, to work primarily in the research group of Dr. Gordon Love. The Associate will be responsible for performing ancient lipid biomarker research encompassing i) compiling biomarker lipid records from newly drilled Archean rock cores from Pilbara Craton, Australia, and ii) developing molecular maturity parameters for characterizing overmature ancient sedimentary organic matter. The projects are funded by The Agouron Institute and Shell, respectively. The Associate will also be expected to assist Professor Love in maintaining the research lab. A demonstrable track record of performing original biomarker geochemistry research as evidenced by publications in international peer-reviewed journals needs to be provided. Practical experience of using and maintaining gas chromatography isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-IRMS) equipment for compound-specific 13C measurements is highly desirable.
