Postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Geology
The Department of Geology at the University of the Free State (UFS) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a postdoctoral fellowship. Candidates with an excellent research track record in any of the sub-disciplines of geology are encouraged to apply. However, candidates that will contribute to the research focus areas of faculty members within the department, or with research experience in i) geophysics / ii) the geology of iron-ore deposits / iii) coal geology, will be given preference. Interested candidates should consult the department's website (https://www.ufs.ac.za/natagri/departments-and-divisions/geology-home) in order to familiarise themselves with the research that is currently being conducted within the department.
The fellowship is awarded on a competitive basis, taking into account the applicants' academic achievements, publication outputs and research potential, as well as the relevance of prior experience and expertise. The fellowship is available for a period of one year, renewable for up to three years subject to satisfactory performance.
