Professor/ Associate Professor in Terrestrial
Quaternary Geology

About the role:

We are seeking to recruit a Professor/Associate professor in terrestrial quaternary geology. Our new Professor/Associate professor will strengthen and further develop Quaternary research in the Arctic coastal and terrestrial environment, as well as being responsible for teaching Quaternary geology and environmental geology at undergraduate and graduate level. This includes terrestrial field-based teaching.

About qualifications:

The Department of Geology is looking for a dynamic candidate with expertise in one or more of the following fields: glacial geology, Quaternary stratigraphy, Quaternary depositional processes, environment and landscape development, sea-level change, geohazards and environmental geology. We are seeking a Professor/Associate professor with a strong scientific publication record, and a proven ability to initiate and manage research projects. Further, applicants should be able to document teaching qualifications at university-level.

The Department of Geology is organized under The Faculty of Science and Technology, currently has approximately 20 scientific positions, 20 PhD-students and 230 graduate and undergraduate students.

The Department is organized into three research groups: Crustal Dynamics, Coastal and Terrestrial Geosciences, and Polar Marine Geology and Geophysics and hosts approx. 230 students. The Department of Geology offers courses at all levels, from bachelor to PhD studies. The Institute stimulates research and education within strategic important field- and knowledge areas as for example energy, resources and climate. A newly funded Centre of Excellence (CoE) allows achieving an international recognized research level.
