Permanent position of "Professeur des Universités" (Teaching/Research) in Sedimentary Geochemistry at the Université du Littoral Côte d'Opale (ULCO, France) (starting September 2019)
The Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences (Laboratoire d'Océanologie et Géosciences, UMR CNRS 8187 : http://log.cnrs.fr/) is advertising the opening of a permanent Professorship position (Professeur des Universités) in Wimereux, France, starting in September 2019. It will be open to all nationalities but the ability to teach in French fluently is a requirement.
This position will involve research (50% of the time) and teaching in French language (50%).
The successful candidate will have a solid research experience in Sedimentary Geochemistry and develop projects concerning coastal, marine (and even continental) environments in order to reinforce research activities on the "Mineralogical and Geochemical messages in Sediments" of the LOG laboratory "GEOSED" team. This team is quite new (2015) and includes members of Lille University and of ULCO (Université du littoral Côte d'Opale). Their main scientific interests involve the use of sediments as paleoenvironmental and paleoclimate archives, and include the study of the acquisition processes of mineralogical and geochemical signals in sediments. It is also expected that the applicant will take part in duties associated with the management of research in the laboratory.
The successful candidate will teach geology and environmental geology/geochemistry at undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise students at all levels in research.
Most of the classes will be given in Calais and concern the training of environmental managers and future teachers (in biology and geology).
