The successful candidate will be contributing to a new project led by PIs J.-F. Boily (Department of Chemistry) and J. Klaminder (Department of Ecology and Environmental Science). This project was devised to provide a molecular scale understanding of long-term in situchemical and microbial degradation of organic matter in relation to CO2 release to the atmosphere. The project will be focused on arctic and boreal soils, and make use of a variety of experimental techniques (e.g. FTIR, TPD, XPS, respirometry). Experience in one or several of these techniques would be desirable for this position.
