The College of the Environment (CoENV) is the largest collection of faculty devoted to environmental science, impacts, and policy in the world. The successful candidate will join 43 academic faculty in renowned programs of research and teaching in the School of Oceanography. Oceanography faculty teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the core curriculum and in their focus area, and mentor a student body that is diverse in socio-economic status, culture, academic interests, and career paths. We seek a colleague who will conduct innovative research that may involve the use of novel observational technologies, and who will engage in collaborations across the School, in the College of the Environment, and with related programs on campus and nearby. These programs include the Ocean Observatories Initiative, the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the Pacific Northwest Geodetic Array, the Applied Physics Laboratory, USGS research based at UW, and NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. The UW is a recipient of the 2006 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Faculty Career Flexibility and a National Science Foundation ADVANCE Institutional Transformation Award to increase the advancement of women faculty in science, engineering, and math.
