![]() CENTRE FOR PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCE AND C02 SEQUESTRATIONComputational Geophysics and SeismologyThe Centre for Petroleum Geoscience and CO2 Sequestration, at The University of Western Australia (UWA) in Perth, currently has two research positions available for early-career high-achieving scientists with expertise in computational geophysics and seismology. Both roles require a highly motivated scientist with a PhD (or equivalent experience) in computational geophysics and the strong desire and capability to undertake both fundamental and applied research.
RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (GEOPHYSICS) (REF: 3746)The successful appointee will have expertise in Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) and will be working on projects related to computational simulation, imaging and full waveform inversion of 3D and time-lapse 4D seismic data, with applications to characterisation and monitoring of hydrocarbon resources and CO2 sequestration. RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (CGGVeritas Research Fellow) (GEOPHYSICS) (REF: 3747)The successful appointee will have expertise in permanent seismic arrays and petroleum/CO2 geophysics, and will be working on projects related to computational simulation, imaging and inversion of permanent array seismic data, both active and passive source, to develop advanced methods for time-lapse monitoring of hydrocarbon resources and CO2 sequestration. Some assistance with relocation expenses (if applicable) may be negotiated. These and other benefits will be specified in the offer of employment. For further information regarding the position please contact Winthrop Professor David Lumley, Woodside-Chevron Chair, CPGCO2 Director, by email at david.lumley@uwa.edu.au.
