We invite applications for a Lecturer (Level B) in the School of Earth Sciences, Faculty of Science.
UWA is ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide and a member of the prestigious Group of Eight research-intensive universities in Australia. The School of Earth Sciences has well-established research and teaching across a number of research themes including application to minerals, energy and groundwater with significant external industry/government agency engagement nationally and internationally. Research and research training activities are concentrated in several important Centres within the School including the Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET) and the Centre for Energy Geoscience (CEG). We attract high quality PhD students from around the world and currently offer a variety of coursework masters degrees and undergraduate majors in Geology and Marine Science (Coastal Systems).
The School is calling for applications from enthusiastic and collegial individuals in Geoscience with discipline strength in metamorphic geology teaching and research and related skills in one or more of igneous geology, structural geology, geochronology and mineral deposit geology. The successful individual will have demonstrated skills in relevant micro-analytical techniques and will have access to the world-class facilities in UWA's Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis, as well as cutting-edge instruments in the School. The role incorporates responsibility for coordination and teaching of our flagship first year undergraduate coursework Earth Systems unit, as well as opportunities to contribute to curriculum development and laboratory and field-based teaching at undergraduate and graduate level.
The appointee must hold a PhD in Geoscience with research experience, research output (e.g. publications in peer-reviewed journals), teaching skills and project supervision experience commensurate with years since graduating , with a preferred strength in metamorphic petrology. The appointee must also be able to engage and develop strong relationships with academic, government and industry collaborators.
