The University of the West Indies (UWI) is a dynamic, international institution serving the countries of the Commonwealth Caribbean. Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Geology
Department of Geography and Geology
Applicants should have a PhD in Geology with specialization in Igneous Petrology and/or Metamorphic Petrology and a strong background in mineralogy and geochemistry. Applicants should also have demonstrated excellence in teaching and research.
The successful candidate will report to the Head, Department of Geography and Geology and is expected to perform the following duties:
- Teach courses in the first year programme together with advanced level courses in his/her area of specialization;
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate research;
- Develop and deliver courses in the areas of specialization;
- Take an active part in field exercises conducted by the Department and Faculty.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as is a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, service and technology application in the classroom. Applicants must possess a genuine interest in helping students and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
The successful candidate is expected to assume duties August 1, 2010.
