Faculty

The Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences (FALW) offers a range of Bachelor and Master programmes. Department

The section of Sedimentology & Marine Geology within the Department of Earth Sciences has a post doctoral position available in Carbonate Sedimentology and Petrophysics.

Within the Department of Earth Sciences, geology courses are given at the Bachelor and Master level. The section of Sedimentology & Marine Geology participates in the Geology Master and international Basinmaster.

Tasks

The person qualifying for the position is expected to have research interests in carbonate sedimentology, carbonate microfacies, diagenesis, seismics, well logging or petrophysics. The candidate will be encouraged to develop an externally funded research programme in her/his field of science. The candidate may participate in our BSc and MSc teaching programmes, including fieldwork short courses as well as courses in carbonate sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, and diagenesis. The candidate will also have to supervise BSc and MSc student interns.

Requirements

We offer a challenging position to a researcher with a PhD in carbonate sedimentology, preferably with publications in quality international scientific journals.

Details

We offer a full time position for the duration of two years. Excellent performance evidenced e.g. by the acquirement of a prestigious Dutch VENI-, VIDI- fellowship grant or an ERC grant may result in a tenure track position. You can find our fringe benefits of employment at www.workingatvu.nl.

Salary

The position will commence spring 2012 at a salary commensurate with qualification and experience, to a minimum of €2.977,- gross per month (salary scale 10.5) and maximum of € 4.374,- gross per month (salary scale 11) in case of full time employment.
