Lecturer/Senior Lecturer
(Sedimentary Geologist/Sedimentary Basin Analyst)

We seek an outstanding geoscientist to join our department and contribute to our long-term success. You will be a sedimentary geologist/sedimentary basin analyst with specialist expertise amongst the following areas: analysis of sedimentary basins, seismic reflection mapping and processing, stratigraphic and facies analysis (including sequence stratigraphy), and geological structure.

You must hold a PhD, have an excellent track record as a researcher and be passionate about geosciences education. It is expected that you will establish an externally funded research programme that complements existing strengths within the department, form strong relationships with end-user organisations and stakeholders, attract and mentor graduate students and develop and maintain strong national and international connections.

There are outstanding opportunities to undertake research in New Zealand’s sedimentary basins that developed in active tectonic environments, and to interact with petroleum exploration and other industries working in these basins. You will teach across a range of general geosciences topics at undergraduate level, with opportunities for more specialised and research-focussed teaching and supervision at graduate level.

Current annual salary range for Lecturers is NZ$65,886 to $80,441 and for Senior Lecturers is NZ$82,468 to $110,614.
