Doctoral Student in Biogeochemistry / Stable Isotope Geochemistry

The laboratory for Biogeochemistry and Isotope Geochemistry at the Department for Environmental Geosciences of the University of Vienna invites applications for a doctoral student position investigating the structure, reactivity, and isotope geochemistry of biogenic iron oxides. The project involves the investigation of iron oxide biomineralization and bacterial reduction in laboratory scale experiments, the use of multicollector mass spectrometry and advanced techniques for structural characterization and chemical reactivity. Candidates should have a strong interest to combine methods of biogeochemistry, geomicrobiology, and isotope geochemistry. They should hold a MSc degree (or equivalent) in geosciences, environmental sciences, chemistry, soil chemistry, geoecology, microbiology or a related discipline. Good knowledge of English is essential.

The application of female candidates is strongly encouraged.

More information on our department and research group can be found at http://umweltgeologie.univie.ac.at. Please contact Prof. Stephan Kraemer (+43-1 4277-53463) for further enquiries or send applications by e-mail to wien9031@earthworks-jobs.com.
