Post-doctoral Research Associate Positions
in Earth Systems Science
Prof. Shanan Peters at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is recruiting post-doctoral research associate positions in Earth systems science, with emphasis in the areas of sedimentary geology, paleobiology, and geoinformatics. Potential research projects are many, depending on candidate's background and interest, but all will include integration of geological datasets and working with computer scientists to develop a trained system for use in geoscience data processing. Funding will be for one year, with a second year available conditional upon satisfactory progress.
Expertise is required in one or more of the following areas: quantitative paleobiology, quantitative stratigraphy, sedimentary geochemistry, biogeochemical modeling. Experience in SQL, R, and other scripting languages desirable. Applicants should have a successful publication record, demonstrated quantitative skills, and programming experience. Ph.D. must be completed prior to employment (start date negotiable).
