The Faculty of Geosciences, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, invites applications for a

Professor of Palaeobotany (W2)

within the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology.

Applicants should have a strong background in both research and teaching with emphasis in the general area of pre-Quaternary palaeobotany and/or palynology. The ideal candidate will have a strong international research profile in palaeobotany and/or palynology, broad interests in geosciences, with well-established field- and specimen-based investigations, a record of analytical/quantitative methods (chemical or physical), and proven success in the acquisition of external funding.

The successful candidate will teach basic and advanced Palaeobotany at the BSc- and MSc-level, participate in interdisciplinary courses, supervise students at all levels, and Iead field and Iaboratory courses.

Prerequisite for the application are academic achievements made as a junior professor (assistant professor), in a habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.
