A new opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Geologist in our Leeds office. This represents an excellent opportunity to get involved on a broad range of high profile projects - including NOMA masterplan, Thorpe Park retail, The Factory Theatre in Manchester, and a major terminal redevelopment at a UK airport.

Steady growth and a number of exciting new projects has given rise to a new opportunity for an Engineering Geologist to join the Leeds-based building civils team.

What will I be doing?

Input to the projects is likely to be varied but will include the requirement to:

  • Undertake detailed engineering design on a regular basis
  • Prepare technical schedules (and specifications under supervision), undertaking GI designs and GI BOQ and assessment of tender returns.
  • Plan and manage CAD design work and ideally operate CAD at a level sufficient to provide modifications to the drawings.
  • Under guidance of more senior staff, represent BH or BH Ground Engineering at meetings with the client, other professionals and GI contractors. For GI works, you will typically be the point of contact both internally and externally for the schemes on which you are working.
  • Ensure that appropriate design decisions are met, suggesting a way forward or alternative process to the job leader, informing them of progress and key issues on regular intervals.

More about you

As an experienced engineering geologist, it is expected that you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven track record in a comparable role;
  • The ability to plan and deliver projects whilst working in a team or under minimal supervision is critical.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Ideally you will have worked in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Prior experience in a GI contractor would be beneficial.


  • BSc in Geology.
  • MSc in Engineering Geology.
  • Chartered or working towards.
