(Junior) Consultant/Researchers in Probability &
Risk Analysis in Geotechnics



The job

Our team applies concepts from outside of geotechnics on geotechnical problems. We combine geotechnics with mathematics, policy analysis, information technology etc. Interaction with internal and external clients and interaction with experts in other disciplines is all part of a day's job.

Your main activities are:

  • performing research and specialist consultancy projects in dike safety
  • working on challenging national and international projects in optimizing flood risk management
  • (assist in) writing project proposals, writing reports and presenting results to the client
  • (assist in) developing tools for risk analysis and -management concepts

Your profile

  • You finished your MSc with excellent grades and/or finished a relevant PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or similar.
  • You were always good in mathematics and you enjoy the application of mathematical concepts to practical problems. Senior candidates have a proven track record in probability and risk analysis in geotechnics or a closely related field.
  • You want to become an international expert on probability & risk quantitative analysis. You have experience in geotechnical engineering or engineering of hydraulic structures and you would like to deepen your knowledge on these subjects. Please note that this position is not suitable for people with a purely mathematical background.
  • You have excellent English language skills and you speak, or you are willing to study, Dutch.

The team

Approximately 125 enthusiastic professionals form the unit Geo-Engineering. We work on various projects in the fields of levees, dams and dikes, offshore, building in urban and industrial environments and transport and rail infrastructure. In nonstandard consultancy projects we combine concrete practical relevance with high standards for quality. We achieve this by continuous development of state-of-the-art knowledge and techniques, combined with a high level of client interaction.
