Deltares is revolutionizing the way we design and evaluate dike systems.
Will you be part of this team?

Designing and evaluating dike systems used to be an immensely labor-intensive job. Collecting relevant data, creating numerical models for various scenarios, interpreting the results and creating reports. At Deltares, we developed a smarter way to do this with our DAM-platform, leveraging the latest advances in IT. We moved from merely tens to several millions of analyses per project. But we're not finished with changing this field!

The quick success of DAM exceeded even our own expectations.

Therefore, we are now looking for

Geotechnical Engineers/Researchers with IT skills

The job

Our team applies concepts from outside of geotechnics on geotechnical problems. We combine geotechnics with mathematics, policy analysis, information technology etc. Interaction with internal and external clients and interaction with experts in other disciplines is all part of a day's job.

Your main activities are:

  • prototyping new functionality for our DAM platform together with our clients and our software developers
  • performing research and consultancy projects using our DAM platform
  • working on challenging national and international projects in optimizing flood risk management
  • (assist in) writing project proposals, writing reports and presenting results to the client
  • overseeing software creation by our internal Software Center.

Your profile

  • You finished a BSc, MSc or PhD (we prefer MSc or PhD) with excellent grades in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or a similar field. You always enjoyed using IT to make your life easier and therefore you have programming or scripting experience.
  • Preferably you have worked in traditional dike engineering projects and you have a profound knowledge of relevant (Dutch) technical guidelines. In any case: becoming an expert in dike safety is part of your ambition. Being able to combine this with your professional interest in software development is a bonus to you.
  • You have excellent English language skills and you speak, or you are willing to study, Dutch.

The team

Approximately 125 enthusiastic professionals form the unit Geo-Engineering. We work on various projects in the fields of levees, dams and dikes, offshore, building in urban and industrial environments and transport and rail infrastructure. In nonstandard consultancy projects we combine concrete practical relevance with high standards for quality. We achieve this by continuous development of state-of-the-art knowledge and techniques, combined with a high level of client interaction.

Working environment

Deltares strives towards balance between the employees' interests and those of the Institute. A Deltares employee is rewarded and appreciated through an integral package consisting of working at the highest level as well as excellent employment conditions. Deltares has a horizontal organizational structure along with a pleasant and informal working environment.

Deltares
