If you are a physicist, no matter the field (robotics, electronics, mechanics…), you are welcome!
IMPORTANT: You must not have spent more than 36 months in France during the 5 past years. You need to hold a PhD degree OR to have spent a minimum of 4 years in full-time research. No restriction of nationality or age.
When? Applications must be submitted before September 11th, 2019 on the EU portal for a start between March 2020 and February 2021
In short, Elvesys is THE Microfluidic Innovation Center. Our start-up is based in the most beautiful place, Paris!
The company was founded by 3 former researchers in microfluidics, we became a unique mix between a private research lab and a start-up incubator. Since 2011, we have created a dozen of innovative companies in fields related to microfluidics and biotechnology. All those companies now make up the Microfluidic Valley and we work in close collaboration with them.
Our goal? To set the basis of microfluidic technologies in France in order to help our country take the train of the next biotechnological revolution.
ABOUT THE POST-DOC:
We offer to help you write a proposal on the topic of your choice related to microfluidics (no need to come with a specific idea, we can provide a list of topics of our interest to help), with the aim to develop a marketable product or a new company, and to submit an application with us to the MSCA-IF call. If your project is funded, you will be immersed for 2 years in a start-up with a strong entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. You will learn to do INNOVATION, that means applied research as close as possible to the market and the customers. You would benefit from what we call "collective intelligence" to find with the team how to create synergies between our projects and how to make impactful research that makes sense.
With the help of the "Innovation Unit" team, you will develop promising microfluidics technologies, contact customers and end users of your product, and learn about all the aspects of a company (R&D, production, sales...).
Your background: A PhD degree/level in physics (whether it is microfluidics, engineering, electronics, software, robotics, mechanics..., you do not have to know about microfluidics), and the desire to learn about microfluidics.
Your personality: You are creative and like to think "outside the box", to be put out of your comfort zone. You would like to take up the challenge of doing a lot with little. You are able to adapt yourself quickly in a changing environment. You have team spirit and like to share your scientific problematics with a multicultural and diverse environment.
