This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a new consultancy specialising in offshore geotechnics. The position is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and the ideal candidate will have a geotechnical engineering / engineering geology background. Offshore experience is desirable but not essential.

While Geomarine is a new start company, the managing director has a proven track record in developing companies and we already have a first class portfolio of clients including some major offshore contractors and operators. We are looking to grow rapidly and are in discussion with several partners and backers.

You should have a strong technical capability in the field of geotechnical design and engineering geology. Report writing skills and client liaison are also required.

Your duties will include:

• Foundations design, including gravity base, pile and suction anchors;
• Trenching assessments for pipeline and cable projects;
• Desk studies for offshore developments;
• Report writing;
• Technical support during project execution;
• Business development and client liaison.

Current projects include expert witness work for trenching related claims, a desk study for an LNG terminal in Italy, trenching assessments for projects in India, Norway and the UK, and foundation design for structures in the North Sea and offshore Canada.
