Halcrow Group Ltd is a multi disciplinary engineering consultancy covering all aspects of Civil Engineering with offices based through the UK and the rest of the world. Due to continued growth our team in Glasgow are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to work as part of our established geotechnical team. We support business groups operating within the Transportation, Property, Water and Energy Sector by providing a full range of geotechnical design services. We also project manage some large commissions such as the Geotechnical Certification of all trunk roads in Scotland.

The principal functions of this position is:

• to deliver effective geotechnical advisory services through each stage of a project; from investigation and ground modelling, to reporting and risk management, through detailed design and support for construction sites.
• plan, budget, organise, direct and control tasks, people and resources.

The priorities of this role include:

• lead geotechnical project teams and assist in developing staff to meet changing needs.
• evaluate the effectiveness of design solutions and promote good practice in design.
• ensure effective project implementation through technical and commercial leadership.
• Work with other business groups within Halcrow to integrate geotechnical engineering in to projects.

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge.

• good communication skills both written and verbal
• familiarity with geotechnical design software
• project management capability
• proven record in design and specification of earthworks and pavements
• chartered Engineer or Chartered Geologist
• MSc qualification (or equivalent)
• degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject e.g. civil engineering, engineering geology.
