Senior Geotechnical Engineer


KCB is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Brisbane office.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with an internationally renowned engineering team, across a diverse range of domestic and international projects, each presenting unique technical challenges. This a permanent salary-based position, aimed at professionals with a drive to develop a career as part of an established team.

You will have the opportunity to utilise your geotechnical and tailings engineering background to fulfill a technical role focussed on the investigation, design, construction and closure of mine waste management facilities, such as tailings storage facilities and waste rock dumps, and related mine infrastructure.

Typical services you will provide include:

  • Project and client management for mine waste management facilities.
  • Lead technical teams and manage day to day project activities, and / or review technical work and direct project execution.
  • Planning, coordination, supervision, interpretation and reporting of field investigation programs, laboratory testing and field trials, and documentation and assessment of same.
  • Analysis and design of mine waste management facilities, bringing engineering design solutions into close collaboration with water management and environmental requirements.
  • Preparation of engineering reports, drawings, specifications, presentations and bill of quantities.
  • In addition to the services listed above you will also be required to:
  • Operate in accordance with KCB's Integrated Management System (Quality, Health and Safety, Environment).
  • Provide support to other KCB offices, as project demands require.
  • Have a professional registration such as RPEQ, CPEng, etc.

The successful candidate will have a civil or geotechnical engineering degree from a recognised Tertiary institution and Australasian / Pacific Rim experience in engineering design of mine waste management facilities. Some experience in the geotechnical analysis and design of open pit slopes will be viewed favourably.
