Here is great opportunity for an up-and-coming engineer looking for a South Island location, with an interest in the area of flood, river management and natural hazard management to work in a busy, technically challenging environment and become a Chartered Engineer in the process!

The role of Natural Resources Investigations Engineer for this Regional Council is to support the management of the Council's engineering assets in relation to natural hazard management, particularly in relation to flood management. The functions of the role are to assist with and provide technical appraisals in the area of flood control, drainage investigation, natural hazard management, hazard reporting and river management. You will develop systems and documentation to support the operation and management of Council's engineering assets.

The position ideally requires you to have at least 2 years experience in the field. Ideally you will be tertiary qualified in civil or natural resources engineering with experience and/or interest in the investigation of flood and land drainage issues. You will have an appreciation of up-to-date river management, flood hazard and land drainage engineering practice and some familiarity, or the capability and interest to learn GIS and hydraulic modelling packages.

As a creative, logical thinker, you will be able to communicate your ideas, verbally through giving presentations and also within written reports. You will enjoy the value of co-operation, teamwork and leadership in the Hazard Management team.
