We seek an outstanding candidate at Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer level to lead the new discipline of Urban Planning and Design within the Department of Architecture, in the Faculty of Art Design and Architecture (MADA). MADA is a vibrant centre of creative practice, enriching the human experience through transformational design and visual practice. It encourages connections between art, design, architecture, and now urban planning, through design-based teaching, research and traditional scholarship as well as integrating with other disciplines to solve emerging societal challenges.
As Program Director/Coordinator, you will set and deliver the strategy for the discipline of urban planning within an interdisciplinary context at MADA. It is expected that you will establish complementary academic and research programs in order to develop a distinct profile, with impact on the local and global planning environment.
The Master of Urban Planning and Design will be offered from 2018 and will have strong connections with other urban thinkers across the University, from engineering and science to geography and economics. The course will be locally and internationally networked within a broad community of practitioners, educators and researchers.
The position is expected to work closely with colleagues to advance MADA disciplines within the University and externally.
