Due to the on-going success of our Geotechnical Services department, we are looking to recruit a Project Engineer into the existing team of talented engineers who work on some of the most interesting and challenging renewable energy projects in UK. The Opportunity Reporting into the Senior Project Managers, you will be responsible for Geotechnical and Geophysical field studies; sample logging and analysis; field mapping and reporting; drilling supervision; data analysis and mapping. This is only a selection of duties and responsibilities and a full list is available on request. You will work on technically challenging projects such as Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm, where you will assist with ground modelling via surface and down hole geophysical profiling (P and S wave and X-hole seismic) to be used in optimising the ongoing wireline coring campaign. The site is situated in a challenging upland environment. In addition to this you will work one of the largest offshore wind farm being constructed in the Irish Sea. Here you will be responsible for analysing seabed core samples and correlating with in-situ test results and sub-bottom geophysical profiling to establish ground model for foundation design. The Team The geotechnical services department is active in planning, pre-construction and construction project phases. A highly qualified and experienced team of professionals working onshore and offshore offering the following contract and consultant services; geotechnical desk study; ground Investigation site activities such as trial pitting, drilling, in-situ testing mapping and documentation; surface / downhole geophysical data acquisition and Interpretation; ground Investigation reporting (factual / interpretative); mining risk assessments; peat slide risk and ground stability assessment; geotechnical design ; geology and hydrogeological Environmental Impact Assessment;. The team has an excellent breadth of skills and experience providing a positive environment for career development. Knowledge and Experience You will be degree qualified in Geotechnics or similar related field such as Geology, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering - ideally this will be complimented by a postgraduate qualification in the above fields. Further to academic qualifications, it is essential that you have demonstrable experience in a similar role with a consultancy or contractor, fulfilling comparable duties and responsibilities as discussed above. You will be a good facilitator who can empower and encourage site based staff with an ability to impress and exceed client needs. You should be comfortable in a client facing role, be capable of development new business and pursuing leads through to confirmed work. Further to this you will have an understanding of the overall commercial aspects of the job. You will possess excellent communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format to staff, clients and third parties alike. You will be capable of working as a team and independently being able to prioritise and manage your own time in line with the changing needs of the business. You will have an eye for detail and will be capable of producing error free work even when under pressure. Being a SME, you will be expected to be flexible with your time and standard duties. Due to the nature of the work, it is essential that you hold a valid full driving licence and are prepared to travel to client sites within the UK or abroad for short assignments. The Location The position is ideally based at our Scottish headquarters, The Green House in rural Dumfries and Galloway (for a more accurate location, please use DG7 3XS). This is the main location of the geotechnical team which offers a great developmental working environment from which to progress your career.
