£46,696 - £55,758 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. This post is available immediately.
Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor within the Nottingham Centre for Carbon Capture and Storage (NCCCS) in the Faculty of Engineering.
NCCCS is a joint venture between the British Geological Survey and the University of Nottingham, set up in response to the acknowledged need for cross disciplinary research in CCS. The centre brings together a critical mass of expertise and comprises of the combined capability of the British Geological Survey CO2 Storage Centre of Excellence and the University of Nottingham's engineering group, one of the best in Europe. Both institutions have recognised the vital need for CCS and both have made a large investment into the Centre to highlight their commitment to supporting CCS technologies.
The successful candidate will undertake research on systems engineering, particularly in the areas of power station capture engineering and integration of capture, transport and storage projects. They will join the Research Division of Energy and Sustainability. Candidates must have a PhD, or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, thermodynamics, or systems analysis.
The Faculty of Engineering has a very progressive structure facilitating multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The successful candidate will be a member of, and carry out teaching in, one of the Faculty's Departments: either Chemical and Environmental Engineering, or Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering. The department will be selected based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
The Faculty of Engineering has an outstanding record of teaching and research excellence and attracts a very high quality intake of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department's delivery of taught BEng, MEng and MSc courses.
This full-time post will be offered on a permanent contract.
