Principal Consultant Geotechnical Engineer



The Opportunity:

The geological make-up of New Zealand offers exposure to new, interesting and challenging geotechnical issues and solutions. If you would thrive on taking up those challenges, and have been thinking about a move to New Zealand, now is the time to act! Many of the Engineering and Environmental Consultancies in New Zealand are on the lookout for senior and principal level Geotechnical Engineers with previous consulting experience and excellent skills in geotechnical analysis and design. Ideally you will have strong design management or project management skills and previous experience in leading a team.

The projects on which you will apply your geotechnical expertise are diverse including roads, highways & rail, land & buildings development, hydropower & windfarms, water resource / irrigation development, waste & contaminated sites, geohazard & land assessment / remediation following the Christchurch earthquakes.

Your skills:

  • Hold a Civil Engineering degree, preferably with a Masters in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Have 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Be experienced in the use of geotechnical analysis and design software such as SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, WALLAP & gINT.
  • Have previous consulting experience, excellent client relationships skills, a strong interest in developing others, and proven or developing project and design management skills.
