Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Rock Mechanics

The School of Engineering is seeking applications from enthusiastic and accomplished people for teaching and research positions in rock mechanics. The Mining Engineering Division within the School of Engineering has research strengths in mine planning, mine automation, rock breakage, spontaneous combustion, operations research, mineral economics, and mine ventilation.

The role: The appointee will contribute to undergraduate teaching within mining engineering and to the development of rock mechanics courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointee will be expected to develop and extend personal research programs in rock mechanics and seek and secure external funding. Participation in collaborative research within the Division, the new Golder Geomechanics Centre, cognate groups and with industry, and to participate in innovative interdisciplinary research as opportunities arise is also expected. Successful candidates will either have an existing 1st class track record in research or be capable of developing such a record.

The person: Applicants should have a PhD in rock mechanics. Knowledge of flexible learning approaches to undergraduate education, well developed industry networks and professional contacts as well as the ability to conduct research and lead project teams are highly desirable.

Remuneration: AUD$79,839 - $94,809 p.a. (Level B), AUD$97,803 - $112,773 p.a. (Level C) or $117,763 - $129,739 (Level D), including employer superannuation contributions of 17%. Full-time, continuing position at Academic level B, C or D. The level of appointment will be appropriate to the experience and expertise of the candidate.
