3 Postdoctoral research positions are available at the School of Engineering
Project Title: Air Pollution Impacts of Irish Heavy Duty Vehicles (MAP-HDV and Eco-HDV)
Project Description: Heavy Duty Vehicles produce significant vehicular emission which is expected to increase due to economic growth in Ireland. Under the European 'Low-emission mobility strategy' countries need to explore and adopt mitigation strategies to reduce the emission levels. In the MAP-HDV project and ECO-HDV project, mitigation strategies such as eco-driving, fleet and demand management policies will be evaluated for potential environmental, economic and health impacts.
The project will involve survey instruments, simulation modelling, emission modelling and simple experimentations.
The projects are funded by SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland), EPA-Ireland and DTTAS (Department of Transport, Tourism And Sport).
The postdoctoral positions are available at 12 months fixed term contract. Two positions will be paid at on the Post-Doctorate Researcher scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy for new postdoctoral researchers Level 2A and one position for will be paid at Research Assistant scale at Level 1.1.
Candidates for the Postdoctoral positions must have completed all the requirements for a PhD in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field by the start date. Research experience in transport modelling is required. A strong background in computer programming, statistical modelling or data science is desirable.
Candidates for the Research Assistant position may have completed a Masters degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field by the start date.
