Principal Electrical Engineer

A large multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking to recruit a Principal Electrical Engineer in ht e South West.

The job holder would be responsible for supervising a small team of electrical engineers in the Bristol Office including on the job training of graduate engineers and for the long term development of the M&E department under the M&E technical Director.

You would also be responsible for checking electrical input on all projects within the office and working as a member of a number of multidisciplinary teams throughout the UK offices on multiple small to medium size projects from inception through to completion and managing small multi-disciplinary projects

The ideal candidate should hold a chartered engineer with an HNC/HND or degree in electrical engineering and have experience in at least two of the following fields:

Design of electrical distribution systems, cabling, lighting design, motor starter panels, electrical building services

Suitable experience, preferably with experience of working on Network rail projects. Experience/working knowledge of mechanical aspects of building services including lifts, heating, ventilation etc.

Experience of working on Rail, Water Industry and Building Services projects.

Detailed knowledge of MV and LV Distribution equipment and systems: standby generation: water, sewerage and industrial pumping control systems: building services: cabling and earthing.

Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams on small projects.

Candidates should be an enthusiastic, team player, willing to travel to sites around UK and to spend some time working in other offices and have good oral and written communication skills
