Mechanical Engineer South East; Sussex; Brighton, UK ŁNEGJob description Our client is seeking a mechanical engineer with an interest in the design and development of hydroelectric projects. The candidate would be required to have skills in most of the following areas: pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, design and specification, implementation and commissioning. In addition to design and development of new and existing hydro schemes the hydro team also provides due diligence services and advice to developers and scheme purchasers. It is expected that the engineer would work as part of the multi-disciplinary hydro team alongside other engineers of various disciplines. An interest in related technical disciplines is considered very beneficial as it is often necessary to provide small project teams. When appropriate, the candidate would be expected to manage their own projects and to be aware of the company’s project management systems. Training is available as required. Overseas travel would be expected. Visits would normally be of one to two weeks duration but longer visits might be required. There is also a potential by mutual agreement for longer term overseas postings. The GHP subdivision operates with a fairly flat structure and individuals can be expected to report to both senior and junior staff as required by the individual projects. Candidate specification First degree in an appropriate discipline is desirable. Some experience in the development of mechanical engineering plant is essential. Mechanical engineering. A second degree and experience in hydraulic equipment (gates and valves) would be advantageous. A flexible mind with good team skills. Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
