Geotechnical Engineer

A leading, multi-national civil engineering consultancy is looking to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer to assist in the growth and delivery of our geotechnical business based from the Cardiff office. This role will suit someone looking for new challenges or seeking a position with excellent career progression opportunities. The existing team has a strong workload and wide client base which are both expanding as a result of quality work and staff commitment. We are seeking ambitious and capable staff to join our team and strengthen our capability and build on recent success to develop further.

The Role

  • Carrying out or contributing to geotechnical designs which include earthworks, earth retaining structures, piles, foundations, retaining walls and slope stability analysis.

  • Assistance with financial and project management for a wide variety of geotechnical projects.

  • Help deliver the geotechnical aspects of multidisciplinary civil engineering projects.

  • Coaching and developing our junior geotechnical engineers.

  • Contribute to the preparation of bids and marketing

  • Compile factual and interpretative reports

  • Liaison with client and team members

  • Applicants will have worked in engineering consultancy and it would be expected that candidates will be either chartered or approaching Chartership

  • A good track record in geotechnical analysis and design.

  • A good understanding of soil mechanics and experience of foundation design

  • A good understanding of ground investigation techniques, documentation and scoping

  • Strong written and verbal communication is essential to the role.

  • Candidates should hold a full UK drivers licence.

  • Self-motivated and ambitious.

  • Strong team player.

Desirable Qualifications

A second degree in a Geotechnical discipline

Either Chartered or approaching Chartership

Essential Qualifications

A first degree in Civil Engineering or Geology/Geotechnical related subject is required.

full UK drivers licence

Essential Experience

Previous experience in Geotechnical design including earthworks, earth retaining structures, piles, foundations, retaining walls and/or slope stability analysis.

Assistance with financial and project management of geotechnical projects.

Multidisciplinary civil engineering projects.

Personal Characteristics

  • A good track record in geotechnical analysis and design.

  • A good understanding of soil mechanics and experience of foundation design

A good understanding of ground investigation techniques, documentation and scoping.
