Senior Consultant

TECHNICAL: Will act as a technical lead on a range of waste related projects and proposals. Responsible for the technical work of less experienced consultants.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manage, review and take responsibility for the progress of waste projects and the delivery to client needs. Resolve technical and financial queries through consultation with project managers and technical managers where appropriate.

CLIENT CARE: Responsible for client care as required on projects (under instruction from the project director and manager) ensuring that projects delivered are meeting the client’s needs.

COMMERCIAL: Maintain a detailed awareness of capability, expertise and range of services and promote capability including cross selling. Proactively seek business development opportunities and develop these under guidance from Commercial Managers and Directors where appropriate. Focuses on achieving targets. Support the CGM in the planning and budgeting process.

TEAM WORKING: Encourage and motivate the team by supporting the CGM at team meetings. Support the CGM in identifying resource requirements and shortfalls. Demonstrates commitment to the team by displaying a personal commitment and positive attitude at all times and acts as an ambassador for teamwork.

Educated to degree level in a relevant field (or equivalent or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of understanding.

Ideally hold membership of a professional institution - Associate member CIWM or CIWEM.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Relevant experience gained within either a consultancy or Local Authority.
  • Knowledge should include waste strategy, waste management, recycling or composting.
  • Proven report writing, data manipulation, numeracy and communications skills are essential.
  • Sound project management as well as business development skills including client care.
  • A flexible attitude, positive outlook and attention to detail are essential, along with an ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Current driving licence.

This role involves having a high level of client contact and offers an excellent chance to contribute to the general development of the Group. It offers the opportunity to join a strong team and develop technical and/or commercial consultancy skills in the waste management market.
