Senior Acoustic Consultant

Project Management: Manage projects including costs, performance and spend against budget, quality, deadlines, delivery of reports, presentations and other deliverables. Review the progress of the projects on a regular basis. Takes responsibility for delivery to client needs. Resolve technical and financial queries through consultation with project managers and technical managers where appropriate. Devise or select most appropriate method of project delivery. Prioritises work, define and allocate tasks, regularly communicate and provide updates and direction by regularly meeting with the project team.

Client Care: Responsible for client care as required on projects (under instruction from the project director and manager). Client care to include communication of progress, complex issues and any financial arrangements. Ensure projects delivered are meeting the client’s needs.

Commercial: Maintain senior level client contacts and negotiate and agree commercial terms where appropriate, consulting with Project Managers on large scale projects. Support the Consulting Group Manager in the annual budgeting and planning process. Develop an awareness of customer business issues and identify lead generation. Proactively seek business development opportunities and develop these under guidance from Commercial Managers and Directors. Maintain a detailed awareness of capability, expertise and range of services and promote capability including cross selling to the target market. Help develop new market areas or new services where appropriate. Review market intelligence to provide knowledge to others. Take accountability for own performance and achieve targets when set.

Teamworking: Encourage and motivate the team by supporting the Consulting Group Manager (CGM) at team meetings. Support the CGM by clearly communicating progress, performance targets and the necessary actions required. Demonstrate commitment to the team by displaying a personal commitment and positive attitude at all times and act as an ambassador for teamwork. Provide feedback to colleagues in a constructive manner. Support the CGM in identifying resource requirements and shortfalls. Supports recruitment activities to meet resourcing plans.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of understanding) in a relevant subject.
  • Hold membership of the IOA.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Relevant experience gained within a nationally recognised environmental consultancy or specialist acoustic consultancy.
  • Technical expertise in noise.
  • Relevant experience of managing single and multi-disciplinary projects.
  • A track record in business development activities is desirable.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • An ability to develop business including client care.
  • Full Driving Licence.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

The role offers an opportunity to help develop and mentor consultants within the team and develop new technical skills through working with high profile projects. Specifically, the successful applicant will help to expand the noise team and to increase the technical capability within the team.
