Our clients Maritime Division is renowned world wide for its
industry expertise and are usually on the top of every client’s list especially
for major port and harbour projects. They have people based all over the world
on either long term or short term projects and their team is growing fast due to
our continued success in gaining and retaining new and long term clients.
You will already have significant shipyard operating and
management experience that you can draw on to advise clients in the industry at
home or overseas. Working under the direction and, where necessary, supervision
of the Principal Consultant, you will undertake and manage maritime projects,
either alone or as part of an FMI team. Working with company procedures, your
aim will be to contribute positively to the development of the Advisory Group
and its targets and you will take responsibility for the projects under your
control.
You will represent the company in front of clients (initially
with some supervision) and will work to present credible solutions to clients’
problems and questions with due regard to accuracy, objectivity, risk and
liability.
Key duties are as follows:-

To pursue enquiries with the aim of enhancing the company’s
business.

To prepare proposals, budgets and bids in response to
enquiries, with due regard to the financial performance of the Advisory Group
and budget targets.

To manage projects technically and financially and to
manage project teams where required to do so.

To prepare reports and information as required by company
procedures.

To conduct research, supervising others where necessary and
to prepare reports and presentations for delivery to the client or internally.

To make presentations to clients and elsewhere as the job
dictates.

To develop shipyard technology and operations solutions and
applications to assist clients as required by project briefs.

To apply First Marine’s proprietary shipyard benchmarking
system.

To specify, procure and supervise subcontracts.

To develop techniques to promote the quality of shipyard
technology solutions prepared by the Advisory Group.

To support the clients teams in a proactive manner to
promote the development of the company’s maritime businesses.

To liaise with clients (internally and externally) to
provide technical solutions and information.

To review and check the work of others in accordance with
the Quality Management System.

To develop and extend the technical abilities of the First
Marine Advisory Group.

To advertise and publicise the work of the company through
technical publications and papers.
Other Duties
Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably

Your qualifications and experience
Profile
-
Track record of success in contributing to employers’
business.

Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Intellectually curious.
-
Highly numerate and computer literate with good analytical
skills.

Experience of shipyards and the shipbuilding and repair
processes, preferably in a management role.

Excellent written and spoken English.
-
Willingness to travel outside the United Kingdom.
Qualifications & Experience

A degree in naval architecture or other marine engineering
related discipline (essential)

Chartered engineer (essential)
-
Post-graduate experience in shipyard management and
operations (essential)

Experience of contract management (desirable)

Experience of team management (desirable)

Experience in consultancy (desirable)

Membership of professional institution(s) (desirable)
