Job description
Working initially under the close direction and supervision
of the Principal Consultant, you will develop expert knowledge and consultancy
skills relating to the shipyard layout design, engineering and operations
aspects of the First Marine Advisory Group with the aim of progressing to
managing and undertaking design contracts either alone or as part of an FMI
team.
You will represent the company in front of clients (initially
with supervision) and will work towards being able to present a credible
solution to clients’ problems and questions with due regard to accuracy,
objectivity, risk and liability.
Key duties are as follows:-

To develop shipyard concept design, master planning and
detailed design solutions and to prepare reports and presentations for
delivery to the client or internally.

To assist in the preparation of proposals, budgets and
bids.

To develop techniques to promote the quality of design
solutions prepared by the Advisory group.

To support or clients teams in a proactive manner to
promote the development of the company’s maritime businesses.

To liaise with clients (internally and externally) to
provide technical and design solutions and information.

To manage projects technically and financially
-
To review and check the work of others in accordance with
the Quality Management System.

To develop and extend the technical abilities of the First
Marine Advisory Group.

To advertise and publicise the work of the company through
technical publications and papers.
Other Duties
Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably
request within the broad parameters of your role.
Your qualifications and experience
Profile
-
Good communication and report writing skills.
-
Excellent design, drafting and drawing skills.
-
Experience of shipyards and the shipbuilding and repair
processes.
-
Energetic and motivated.
-
Excellent written and spoken English.
-
Willingness to travel outside the United Kingdom
Qualifications & Experience
-
A degree in naval architecture or a marine-related
engineering discipline (desirable)

Chartered engineer (desirable)
-
Post-graduation experience in a shipyard environment
(essential)

Experience in shipyard design or other applicable shipyard
activities (essential)

Membership of professional institution(s) (desirable)
