Job description
Our client is looking to further develop there business and
market position in Scotland and have requirements for Chartered Engineers to
work in either there established Edinburgh team or on there new Glasgow office
which opened in May 2007. The positions would suit someone looking for the
opportunity to develop their project management and client contact skills on a
variety of different projects.
The role will be to act as Project Manager on a wide variety
of projects mostly maritime related but also other civil and structural
engineering projects. Our client currently have an interesting forward workload,
with on-going commissions including:

A major waterfront regeneration. Investigations and outline
designs completed for impounding existing harbour basins with a closure wall
and sector gate lock, dredging, stabilising existing harbour walls, feature
opening bridge, and a rail level crossing. Detailed design is now underway,
with our client also retained to advise on procurement, and to provide site
staff during the construction phase.

Improvement to a series of causeways linking remote
islands. Enhancing wave protection following damage during severe storms, and
widening from single to dual lane for this vital transport link. Design
underway.

New breakwater and repairs to an existing timber jetty.
Project is about to go to site, with our client undertaking site duties.

Major term commissions as specialist advisers to Defence
Estates for maritime structures, wind sensitive structures, buildings and oil
storage facilities through the DE Prime Contractors in Scotland and in Central
England.

3 year project in partnership with the Met Office to build
a substantial radar network. Project office established in Trinidad. Further
works to carry out detailed surveys for Cable & Wireless throughout Caribbean.

Asset management commissions for Clydeport, The Maritime
and Coastguard Agency, Defence Estates, British Airways and others in the
fields of maritime, structural and M&E.
Key responsibilities are as follows:-

Oversee and participate in the production of engineering
design calculations, engineering design drawings and engineering reports.

Oversee and contribute to the production of technical,
commercial and contractual documents for procurement of engineering projects.

Contribute to the development of the client base within the
office through the production of proposals and interaction with clients.

Participate in the development of new and existing client
bases within the office.

Provision of advice and expertise to more junior staff
within the office.
Your qualifications and experience
You will be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with experience in a
relevant field. You must also have full membership of MICE or MIStructE and with
a minimum BEng in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. You must have a
sound technical background in civil or structural engineering preferably on
waters edge projects. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate
effectively with other project team members, external organisations, and client
representatives are also essential.
