Our client operates a team ethic in the running of all of their projects and their employees are therefore expected to be able to integrate into multicultural teams and to demonstrate understanding of other team members who may have very different social and cultural backgrounds.

As the team Leader – Waste Management, Cardiff, you will be reporting directly to the Function Group Head, Environmental Solutions.

The main duties of the role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing leadership in developing the business into a local market leader. Major emphasis will be placed on leadership in winning and delivering high quality, competitive projects (Business Development);

  • Driving and leading structured securing of projects and maximizing new work-winning opportunities for both the team and for the wider Consulting business. (Development Targets);

  • Leading and influencing local marketing and selling strategies. (Marketing);

  • Maximising client retention locally and for the wider Consulting business. (Client Management);

  • Profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the team in your office. (Financial Management);

  • Technical and financial control of all projects undertaken within the team such that projects are completed to time, to budget and in line with planned financial performance. (Delivery);

  • Overall control of all projects undertaken within the team such that Clients’ expectations are met or exceeded. (Delivery);

  • Positive management of risks and opportunities to minimise exposure and maximise value through Project Work. (Risk Management);

Provision of monthly reporting and substantiation to the Function Group Head, Environmental Solutions. (Reporting);

  • Programmed issuance of invoices and cash collection. (Cash Management);

  • Preparation and obtaining approval of budget(s). (Budgeting);

  • Identification, planning and provision of resources required to deliver the team’s business plan. (Planning);

  • Ensuring compliance with company systems. (Systems);

  • Participation in the management of the Environmental Solutions business and in the wider UK business. (Integration);

  • Working with other Team Leaders to generate synergies at both project, function and office level. (Synergy);

  • Managing best use of resources to enhance corporate work winning and delivery. (Resourcing);

  • Ensuring PDR reviews and subsequent follow up is carried out as required for team members. (Resourcing and Staff Development);

  • Motivation and development of staff to ensure most efficient use of skills (Staff Development);

  • Effective leadership though communication and role-model behaviour. (Leadership and Communication);

  • Developing and building trusted relationships with other teams, functions and offices. (Communication);

  • Delivering the company strategy including the necessary management of change. (Strategy).

It is not considered essential that the individual undertakes all of the above activities and a degree of delegation is expected. The requirement for team leadership, however, cannot be understated.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum first degree in a related subject.

Essential Experience

Previous work in a fast flowing client led environment.
