Job Vacancy 0898

This position is part of a joint project with the Mathematics Institute of the University of Potsdam. Data-based models (reconstructions) of the past geomagnetic field are powerful tools to study the geodynamo process generating the Earth's magnetic field or to estimate the past shielding against solar wind and galactic cosmic rays. The aim of the project is to develop a new reconstruction of the Holocene geomagnetic field with particular focus on uncertainties and the influence of a priori assumptions. The project, lead by Prof. Matthias Holschneider (University of Potsdam) and Dr. Monika Korte (GFZ), will also include a post-doctoral researcher, and the two project scientists are expected to collaborate closely at both institutes.
