Scientific Review Editor/Writer (m/f/x) Job Vacancy No. 2644

Your responsibilities:

  • reading and editing of proposal manuscripts for consistency, clarity, grammar, and syntax while translating complex scientific concepts and data into language appropriate for audiences of specific interest for the work programme or topic of call chosen for submission
  • review of drafts and discussion of results with researchers on all levels as well as with external partners in order to identify key messages to be highlighted for scientific audiences
  • motivation, information, advisory and coaching of scientists over the whole project time span
  • preparation and editing of textual contributions in response to the requirements of the target institutions
  • analysis of external evaluation results
  • development and implementation of training formats to promote scientific writing skills in early stage researchers and collaborators

Your qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in geosciences or physics
  • experience in large international programmes and projects, in particular in the field of geosciences
  • excellent writing and communication skills in English (native speaker or native speaker level)
  • readiness to work both within our service-oriented team and independently
  • ability to interact with scientists at different levels
  • profound experience in scientific proposal writing
  • experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment in collaboration with individuals from all sectors including academic, public administration and the industry
  • demonstrated expertise in coordination of complex project proposals with shifting deadlines and involvement of multiple stakeholders
  • proven ability to prepare and hold compelling scientific and technical presentations
Starting date: 1st June 2019
Fixed term: 2 years
Working hours: full-time (currently 39 h/week); The position is, in principle, suitable for part-time employment.
Salary: This position has been assessed as being salary group 13 according to "TVöD Bund (Tarifgebiet Ost)". The salary group will be determined by the conditions of the collective wage agreement and the appropriate personal qualifications.
