The Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences is the national research centre for Earth sciences in Germany. With approximately 1,280 employees (including visiting scientists), the GFZ is conducting interdisciplinary research on the "System Earth" and the influence of humans on the planet. As a member of the Helmholtz Association, it is part of Germany's largest science organization.

Project title: Geophysical Interpretation with Target-Oriented Joint Inversion Modules (Gitaro.JIM)
Gitaro.JIM is a joint research project within the ERA-Net Cofund MarTERA program. The project aims to integrate multi-disciplinary geophysical data sets in a modular joint inversion approach. The GFZ contributes to the project with laboratory investigations on electrical and seismic sediment properties and their dependence on methane hydrate content. The results will be used by the project partners for the joint inversion of CSEM and seismic field data from the paleo-Danube delta in the Black Sea.
