Doctoral and post-doctoral opportunities

Funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and by the German Excellence Initiative, the MARUM Center for Marine Environmental Sciences aims at unraveling the role of the oceans in the framework of global change, quantifying interactions between marine geosphere and biosphere, and providing information for a sustainable use of the ocean.

Employing cutting-edge technologies, research at the MARUM is structured around the following themes:

  • Ocean and Climate
  • Geosphere-Biosphere Interactions
  • Sediment Dynamics.

Within the MARUM the University of Bremen closely cooperates with the Alfred- Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, the Max-Planck-Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen, the Senckenberg Institute by the Sea in Wilhelmshaven, the Center for Marine Tropical Ecology in Bremen and the Jacobs University Bremen.

MARUM has currently job openings for several doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in the above mentioned research areas. Further details on the offered positions and closing dates are available at www.marum.de/Jobs.html. Applications should include letter of motivation, CV, list of publications, and names of three potential referees.

As the University of Bremen intends to increase the proportion of female employees in science, women are particularly encouraged to apply.

To encourage parents to work in academia (e.g. after a parental leave), most positions are offered with a part-time option.

In case of equal personal aptitudes and qualification priority will be given to disabled persons.

More information on research and technology at the MARUM is available at www.marum.de
