The Institute of Geosciences of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Kiel University invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W2) in Marine Micropalaeontology
Appointment will be at the Institute of Geosciences and should start with the summer term in 2020.
The successful candidate should represent the field of Marine Micropalaeontology in research and teaching as comprehensive as possible, with a strong orientation towards field work on the continents and in the ocean. We are seeking a scientist who has profound expertise in the palaeoecology, diversity, and evolution of marine planktonic and/or benthic microfossils at geological time scales. Expertise should also encompass taxonomy and sound knowledge about environmental impact factors on habitats, with emphasis on calcareous and/or siliceous shell forming organisms. Application of geochemical approaches on such microfossils for palaeoenvironmental reconstructions would be welcomed in addition.
Since our research and education profile focuses thematically on Marine and Applied Geosciences, participation in larger interdisciplinary projects in Earth System and Marine Science at the university level, often in collaboration with the Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, GEOMAR, is truly expected. For more detailed information on the position and the Institute of Geosciences you may contact Prof. Dr. Ralph Schneider (email@example.com).
The position is opened with respect to Art. § 61 and § 63, Section 1 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Schleswig-Holstein. General information on the application procedure can be found at www.berufungen.uni-kiel.de.
Kiel University wishes to increase the number of female scientists in faculty positions and encourages applications of qualified women. Female applicants will be given priority if their qualifications and achievements are equal to those of male applicants.
Applications from scientists with disabilities will be given priority in case of equal qualifications. We explicitly encourage candidates with a migration background to apply. Please refrain from submitting photographs.
Applications should be written in English and include a curriculum vitae, copies of academic certificates, a list of publications, a list of externally funded projects, information on teaching experience, and a future research strategy. Please provide private and business addresses as well as telephone numbers. The application should be submitted as a single pdf document (smaller than 20 MB) by September 20th, 2019 to The Dean, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Kiel University, D-24089 Kiel, Germany, (firstname.lastname@example.org).
