Junior Scientist - Marine Biosecurity
Cawthron Institute is looking for an early-career Scientist to join our Marine Biosecurity team.
The team undertakes research that underpins New Zealand's marine biosecurity system, by developing tools and strategies for detecting invasive species, preventing their establishment and spread, and for managing incursions. We also assist the aquaculture industry with managing problematic biofouling and disease risks. We value interdisciplinary science that delivers practical and effective outcomes for end-users.
The successful applicant will be an innovative thinker with a postgraduate degree in marine science, or a related field. A hands-on and outcome-oriented approach to science is essential, and a background in biotechnology could be advantageous. We are looking for a practical team player committed to a culture of science excellence who can contribute to research and commercial consulting.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly creative and collaborative scientist to be part of a dynamic, world-class organisation that prides itself on connecting science and society.
The position is based in Nelson at New Zealand's largest independent research organisation.
