Marine Systems Scientist

PURPOSE OF JOB
To deliver marine observation projects with established objectives and goals. This will involve equipment preparation/calibration, in addition to seagoing operations for deployment and recovery of marine observation equipment, and the processing, analysis and quality assurance of acquired scientific data.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation, servicing and fault finding of sampling equipment and subsequent Quality Assurance of data. The role will involve Cefas Endeavour surveys and small boat work. Support for important seagoing surveys including liaising with stakeholders as required. You will be required to promote and ensure a culture of innovation to drive forward improvements, in delivery and operational matters to ensure we continue to learn from experiences and deliver a professional service to our customers.
You will ideally have a working knowledge of the processes involved in the preparation, servicing and fault finding of sampling equipment and subsequent Quality Assurance of data.
Some technical knowledge and experience is essential for this role and you must be able to demonstrate your skills and experience in these areas:
Academic qualifications required for direct entry to this pay band 4 post is a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. This requirement may be waived for internal candidates with relevant experience.
