Assistant Professorships in Physical Oceanography
The Nicholas School of the Environment (NSOE) at Duke University invites applications for a faculty position in physical oceanography.
This is one of four areas of interest for two tenure-track Assistant Professorships that NSOE plans to fill in the natural sciences. We seek an outstanding and visionary candidate who studies large- to regional-scale physical oceanography, focusing on such problems as ocean-atmospheric interactions and/or basin-scale material transport and mixing, especially as these may relate to past, current, and future climate and ocean environments.
Applicant's work should be grounded in theory and use observational or modeling approaches. Successful candidates are expected to develop an externally funded and nationally recognized research program, teach and mentor undergraduate, professional and graduate students, and engage in service within NSOE, the University, and in the broader scientific community. Successful candidates are also expected to demonstrate a commitment to advancing excellence through diversity and inclusion.
